Highs:

  • meeting other cruisers who knew us from Beaufort, NC (4!)

  • only having to deal with one bridge

  • hanging out with other cruisers at Happy Hour at Brunswick Landing

  • Cumberland Island

  • free beer

  • free laundry

  • getting very close to deer and armadillo

Lows:

  • limited shore access due to grasslands and pluff mud

  • quite shallow areas with large tidal ranges

  • limited places to get fuel

Firsts:

  • manatee sign

  • people who knew us from YouTube

  • bridge taller than 65 feet (185 foot clearance!)

  • being talked to by a police officer

  • allowing our fuel to get below a quarter tank

  • using a dinghy lift

  • free yoga class

  • armadillo

Lessons Learned:

  • Aaron loves free beer (duh)

  • with a large tidal range and so many rivers you weave through, most of the day will be spent fighting the current for an hour or two, then riding it for an hour or two

  • We were known as 'The Kids' in Beaufort, NC

  • Fuel is few and far between in Georgia

  • Cumberland Island is paradise

  • Sometimes the place you think will be the least enjoyable, turns out the opposite
